School-to-Work Strategies & Opportunities

We are excited for the opportunity to share our innovative, student-centered approach to guiding and supporting students through work-based learning experiences at Miami Valley CTC. We will share practical strategies and systems we have implemented to help students succeed while also strengthening relationships with employers. Topics will include using Performance Improvement Plans with students as a tool to turn difficult workplace experiences into opportunities for growth and accountability, School-to-Work hybrid academics course offering to better support students balancing school and work, as well as our Employer Tuesday/Thursday events to connect students and employers. The goal of the presentation is to share what has worked for us, lessons we have learned along the way, and practical ideas that other schools and career centers can take back and adapt to their own work-based learning programs.
